The presence of an albino in a wild population of this species could provide a new insight into the behavior of this species.
Interestingly, this condition does not seem to have an impact on their color vision. Instead, it is thought that they have a higher density of blood vessels in their facial skin than regular primates, which causes them to have red faces.
They are also more susceptible to sunburn and skin cancer, since they have no natural protection from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. This can make them more noticeable in the forest, making them easy prey for predators.
They are rare

Most New World primate species have trichromatic color vision, which means they can distinguish between blues, greens and reds. But some of them, such as marmosets, tamarins, squirrel monkeys, and howler monkeys, are dichromatic, which means they only see blues and greens.
Luckily, scientists have found a way to give male squirrel monkeys full color vision with an experimental treatment called gene therapy. In this procedure, human segments of DNA are implanted in the back of their eyes. After 5 weeks, these monkeys begin to recognize the full range of colors in the world around them. In the future, it might be possible to use this technique to treat color blind humans.
They are easy prey

A few years ago, a photographer was traveling through South Africa when she saw a troop of vervet monkeys playing in the road. She was surprised to see that one of the monkeys was incredibly white, which made it stand out from the rest.
The incredibly white monkey was taken in by one of the older members of the group. He seemed to get along well with the other monkeys, and they even accepted him without question. This is an amazing sight that shows the incredible ability of these animals to live despite their strange appearance.
